Zinc Phosphate Coating Service Thailand — Bonderizing before Powder Coating
Zinc Phosphate Coating Service in Thailand — Bonderizing before Powder Coating
Summary: Zinc phosphate coating (bonderizing) forms a fine crystalline conversion layer on steel that prevents corrosion and gives paint a surface it can grip. It is the standard pre-treatment before powder coating or baked enamel. ST.RIZING provides zinc phosphate coating at our own plant in Bang Phli, Samut Prakan, Thailand, and also manufactures the chemicals if you run your own line.
Why zinc phosphate before powder coating?
Powder coating applied directly to bare steel will flake off. Untreated steel carries oil, dust and oxides, so the paint cannot bond, and moisture creeps under the film and forms rust that lifts the coating. A zinc phosphate layer solves both problems at once: it is a first corrosion barrier and a porous key for the paint. In practice this multiplies coating life.
Our standard process
- Degreasing — alkaline cleaner removes oils and contaminants
- Rust removal / pickling — strips oxides down to clean metal
- Surface conditioning — promotes fine, uniform phosphate crystals
- Zinc phosphate coating — the conversion layer is formed
- Rinsing and drying
- Powder coating and curing (optional — we can do this in-house too)
Applications
- Steel furniture, cabinets and shelving
- Structural steel and architectural components
- Automotive and motorcycle parts
- Electrical enclosures and equipment housings
- Any steel part that will be powder coated or painted
Zinc phosphate vs manganese phosphate vs iron phosphate
| Zinc Phosphate | Manganese Phosphate | Iron Phosphate | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Main purpose | Corrosion protection + paint base | Wear resistance + lubrication | Low-cost paint base |
| Corrosion resistance | Excellent | Good (with oil) | Moderate |
| Paint adhesion | Excellent | Moderate | Good |
| Finish colour | Light grey | Dark grey to black | Light iridescent |
Two ways to work with us
1) Send us your parts — we run the full line (degrease → derust → condition → zinc phosphate → dry), and can powder coat afterwards. Our plant is in Bang Phli, Samut Prakan, close to Bangkok and Suvarnabhumi.
2) Buy the chemicals — we manufacture degreasers, rust removers, surface conditioners and zinc phosphate chemicals in Thailand. Because we are the manufacturer, we can tailor the formulation to your line and support you on site.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I skip phosphating before powder coating?
A: Technically yes, but the coating will peel and rust will form under the film. We do not recommend it for any part that matters.
Q: What determines the price?
A: Part size and volume, the type of pre-treatment required, and whether powder coating is included. Contact us for a factory quotation.
Q: Where is the plant?
A: Bang Phli, Samut Prakan, Thailand — in the main industrial belt near Bangkok.
Q: Do you accept small batches?
A: We evaluate case by case. Please contact our team with your part details.
Q: Can you match a specification from our overseas HQ?
A: Yes. Send us the specification and our technical team will confirm the process and, if needed, adjust the chemistry.
